I'm Kimisha,
My expression takes many forms and I love working in varying mediums and processes to execute my conceptual vision. From murals to workshops, sculptures to performance art and mosaics to carvings...I tend to let the concept determine how I should create each piece. Typically, there is a familiar thread of layers and beauty combined with challenging subject matter with the hope that it is provocative yet easily digested by a varied audience.
Growing up as a Black woman from the Pacific Northwest, losing both parents by my early 30's and being a mother to a beaufitul boy on the spectrum, my layered life experience heavily influences my artistic curiosity. I aim to help generate new perspectives and encourage empathy, pushing to have the viewer walk in another’s shoes while exploring ways that allow one to relate to another.
I earned my B.F.A. from Cornish College of the Arts with an emphasis in Photography and Printmaking and have since focused on innovative ways of creating and interpreting the human journey. I've been fortunate enough to collaboration with The Seattle Art Museum, Amazon, Pratt Fine Arts and the Seattle Theater Group among other organizations on multiple levels over the years.
While I am not creating Art, I am raising my beautiful son and fellow artist Malcolm.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
